Why is Wegovy HD prescribed?
Wegovy HD is FDA-approved to treat:
- Chronic weight management (BMI >=30, or >=27 with at least one weight-related comorbidity)
How it works
7.2 mg is the higher-dose maintenance step approved August 2025 for patients who tolerate 2.4 mg but need additional weight-loss benefit. Same active ingredient (semaglutide) as Wegovy 2.4 mg, three-fold higher weekly dose at maintenance.
“Wegovy HD works by mimicking a natural hormone — the result is slower digestion, reduced appetite, and better blood-sugar control. What matters most is how patients respond over months, not days.”
