FAQ
Where does this shortage data come from?
Status is pulled from the openFDA drug-shortage database (api.fda.gov/drug/shortages.json), the machine-readable mirror of FDA’s official drug-shortage list. This page refreshes once daily. If the FDA API is briefly unreachable, we fall back to our manually verified feed.
What should I do if my GLP-1 is in shortage?
Options: ask your prescriber about switching to an available drug in the same class (semaglutide ↔ tirzepatide requires a new prescription and dose conversion), check whether a different dose is available, ask about compounded alternatives where legal, or use a telehealth provider that holds its own inventory. Never ration doses without prescriber guidance.
Is compounded semaglutide still available?
When the FDA declared the branded semaglutide and tirzepatide shortages resolved in 2025, mass identical-copy compounding ended. Personalized compounded formulations remain available in some cases. See our compounded-semaglutide legal-status guide for the current 2026 picture.
