Can I take ibuprofen with Wegovy?

Asked by Marcus, PA · 2026-05-04 · 71 helpful

Clinician answer

Yes — no pharmacokinetic interaction between semaglutide and NSAIDs. The nuance is that both slow gastric emptying and both can irritate the stomach lining, so combined use raises the odds of nausea or a peptic ulcer if you already run reflux-heavy. Take ibuprofen with food, cap it at 1200 mg/day for routine use, and switch to acetaminophen if you get GI symptoms.
