Yes, and it is the single biggest lever on how much muscle you keep. Target 0.7-1.0 g per lb of goal body weight per day (about 100-140 g for most women, 140-180 g for most men). GLP-1 satiety makes you eat less overall, so without a deliberate protein-first plan up to 30% of the weight lost can be lean mass — which slows metabolism and rebounds fast if you stop the drug. Front-load protein at breakfast, when appetite is highest.
