Injection technique
The three FDA-approved injection sites for weekly GLP-1 medications and a simple rotation pattern. Same logic applies to Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound, and Saxenda.
Week 1
abdomen
Week 2
thigh left
Week 3
arm right
Week 4
thigh right
Within a single zone, keep each new injection at least 2 in (5 cm) from the previous site. Repeat the 4-week pattern indefinitely.
Where can I inject Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, or Zepbound?
The FDA-approved injection sites for all four are the abdomen (at least 2 inches from the navel), the front of the thigh, and the back of the upper arm. Rotate between these zones weekly.
How far apart should injection sites be?
Within the same zone, keep each new injection at least 2 in (5 cm) from the previous site. Between zones, you can rotate freely week to week.
Does the injection site change how the medication works?
No clinically meaningful absorption difference between the three FDA-approved sites. Patients usually choose by ease + comfort. Many find the abdomen the easiest to reach and the least painful.
