Can I take GLP-1 while pregnant?

No. All FDA-approved GLP-1s carry a pregnancy contraindication. Stop GLP-1 at least 2 months before planned conception due to its long half-life.

Animal studies showed fetal harm; human data is limited but the precaution applies. Discontinue immediately on pregnancy confirmation.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide have ~7-day half-lives, meaning ~99% washout takes ~5-7 weeks. The 2-month buffer accounts for this plus normal cycle variability.

Postpartum and lactation use is not FDA-approved; clinicians may resume after weaning but evidence is limited.
