Things to know
Is there a GLP-1 pill for weight loss?
Yes. Oral semaglutide (Rybelsus, and a higher-dose oral Wegovy under FDA review) is a daily pill. Orforglipron (Foundayo) is a newer oral small-molecule GLP-1 that, unlike oral semaglutide, has no strict fasting-and-water timing requirement — a real adherence advantage.
Are oral GLP-1s as effective as injections?
Injectable semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound) currently produce the largest average weight loss. Oral options are effective but generally a step below the strongest injectables. For needle-averse patients, an oral GLP-1 is far better than no treatment.
