Can you take a GLP-1 with high blood pressure medication?

Yes. GLP-1 medications combine safely with all major antihypertensive classes (ACE inhibitors, ARBs, beta blockers, diuretics, calcium channel blockers). Weight loss on a GLP-1 often lowers BP, so monitor and reduce antihypertensives as needed to avoid hypotension.

STEP-1 secondary endpoints showed mean systolic BP reduction of ~6 mmHg at 68 weeks; SELECT (semaglutide CVOT) confirmed sustained CV benefit.

Practical: check BP weekly during titration; if it drops below 110/70 with symptoms, talk to your prescriber about reducing the antihypertensive dose.

Diuretic dose adjustments are most commonly needed; ACE/ARB doses less often.
